Pirabene is a brand of piracetam. This product is developed and marketed by Ratiopharm, a biopharmaceutical company headquartered in Ulm, Germany.
Pirabene (piracetam) has been used for decades as a nootropic agent. Pirabene (piracetam) was the very first racetam nootropic ever developed and it remains to this day the most widely used. It has been observed to be effective in increasing cognitive functions. Below are some of the benefits that have been reported off label and in medical studies.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Pirabene (piracetam) mechanism of action is not fully understood but studies have shown that it mildly affects the brain’s neurotransmitters and receptors. It is neither a sedative or a stimulant but is known to influence cognitive ability. Pirabene (piracetam) is also believed to increase oxygen and blood flow in key areas of the brain but this is not believed to be its main nootropic action.
PIRABENE SAFETY, TOLERANCE & DRUG INTERACTIONS
Some people taking it might experience mild headaches, gastrointestinal symptoms, and sleeping problems. Lecithin/Choline will rid the use of Pirabene of most of its unpleasant side effects, as well as having a synergistic effect on the drug, improving brain function and slowing the development of tolerance. Individuals who are prone to experiencing medication reactions in general may be at a higher risk than others, and they should consult with their physicians. Pirabene has proven to be safe, with low toxicity, side effects and drug interactions.
Pirabene (piracetam) goes well in combination with other nootropics. It goes especially well with a Lecithin/Choline source and this is always recommended.
The usual dose is 2,400 to 4,800 mg per day in three divided doses. Some literature recommends a high "attack" dose (approximately 4,000 to 8,000 mg) be taken for the first two days. Pirabene (piracetam) takes effect within 30 to 60 minutes.
